Our Company was founded more than 80 years ago as a supplier of boiler compounds for high pressure steam plants. During the 20th Century we pioneered many of the water treatment industry’s most successful formulations to protect the water sides of high-pressure steam boilers, and steam generators. Barclay feedwater treatment programs are designed to maintain the waterside integrity of boilers and related heat exchange equipment including economizers, air preheaters, as well as steam turbines and auxiliaries. In addition, we have expertise in the design of makeup water pretreatment systems including water filtration and softening systems, demineralizers, dealkalizers, reverse osmosis systems, and condensate polishers.
We provide boiler water treatment programs that are customer specific and consistent with blowdown discharge limitations. Our engineers are able to predict feedwater problems and prescribe a treatment approach to prevent upset conditions before they occur.
Barclay boiler water treatment programs optimize steam plant efficiency while extending the useful life of boiler tubes. We have an enviable record of preventing unscheduled plant shutdowns arising from unchecked corrosion and scale formation. Our boiler water treatments are based on the latest generation of polymers backed by our strong commitment to ongoing research and product development. All of our products undergo extensive laboratory testing before they are used in the field. This conservative approach insures that our feedwater treatments are effective and environmentally sound. Barclay feedwater treatments are safe and simple to use and control. For nearly a century, Barclay Water Management, Inc. has been recognized as an industry leader in providing high quality treatment programs for all types of steam generating systems.
We have long been recognized as an industry leader in developing environmentally friendly, cost-effective water treatment approaches for industrial and commercial evaporative cooling systems. Barclay cooling water treatment programs maximize heat exchange while extending the useful life of condensers, plate and frame heat exchangers, evaporative cooling towers, supply and return piping, valves, and process equipment. Our programs prevent corrosion of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, minimize mineral scale deposit formation, and control microbiological growth and system fouling. Our cooling water formulations are simple and safe to use and satisfy the most stringent discharge guidelines.
Our proven cooling water products are backed by our commitment to ongoing research and development, and field/laboratory support. We utilize state-of-the-art feed and control equipment to ensure that cooling water chemistry stays on track 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We understand the importance of process and comfort cooling and we excel in making our customers’ priorities our priorities. For nearly a century, facility managers have looked to Barclay Water Management, Inc. for the latest in cooling water treatment programs.
It’s important to closely monitor and control the water chemistry in closed loop recirculating systems because corrosion and microbiological fouling impact heat exchange even in systems experiencing relatively modest water loss. If left unchecked, corrosion and bio fouling will shorten the useful life of piping, valves, and heat exchangers in these systems.
Closed loop systems distribute heated or chilled water throughout a building, with water temperatures ranging from 42°F to 350°F and water velocities between 2 and 5 feet per second. Process water loops often experience much higher temperatures and velocities as much as 10 feet per second. Closed loop HVAC systems typically contain several types of metallurgy including mild steel, cast iron, copper, brass, and aluminum. A water treatment program must protect all of these metals.
Effective closed loop treatment programs utilize a blend of corrosion inhibitors, scale control agents, and microbiocides, and the necessary field service to insure good control of system chemistry.
More than 80 years ago, Barclay Water Management, Inc. pioneered in developing effective fuel oil treatment programs for high-pressure industrial steam plants.
Our fuel oil treatment programs enable boiler operators and engineers to control fuel chemistry during every stage of the combustion process. Our products prevent fuel oil storage problems, control slag and soot formation during the combustion process, and prevent costly cold end corrosion.
Pre-combustion treatments minimize corrosion and sludge formation in boiler fuel oil storage tanks, lines, and strainers. These treatments are specially formulated to stabilize fuel and prevent water from corroding fuel oil storage tanks. Maintaining the proper concentration of treatment can eliminate expensive fuel tank cleaning to remove sludge and accumulated water. Regular use of pretreatment additives has been shown effective in preventing sudden, unscheduled plant shutdowns caused by plugged fuel oil suction lines and strainers.
Barclay Water Management, Inc. has combustion improvers for every grade of fuel oil. When using residual fuel oils, our combustion catalysts control the formation of slag and soot while allowing boilers to be fired with the minimum level of excess air. In addition, these specialty treatments reduce damaging cold end corrosion.
Barclay Water Management, Inc. manufactures and supplies process and wastewater treatments for a variety of industrial effluents and municipal wastewater streams. Our products control precipitation and foaming, improve water clarity, and aid in flocculation and sludge dispersion. Facilities that rely on our wastewater expertise include semiconductor manufacturing plants, pulp and paper mills, metal plating firms, chemical and pharmaceutical plants, furniture manufacturers, food processors, dairies, and cogeneration facilities.
Barclay’s process and wastewater treatments are recognized for their superior quality and cost effectiveness. Our field engineers have decades of wastewater treatment experience and are supported by a team of highly regarded scientists and engineers based in Newton, Massachusetts. This combination of quality products and knowledgeable field engineering services makes Barclay Water Management, Inc. the preferred supplier of wastewater treatment programs in the Northeast.
